The day begins with the Journalism Conference, followed by an Awards Reception and the Awards Dinner. Conference and awards tickets are sold separately. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Join journalists, students, educators and industry leaders for a full day of professional development, networking and practical sessions.
The conference offers something for everyone, from students and early-career journalists to seasoned professionals. The day will feature sessions with practical advice on landing your first job, preparing for a successful interview, and navigating a variety of reporting beats. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Claire Moran, a producer for CBS News’ Face the Nation, who will offer a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s leading political broadcast programs.

Keynote Speaker
Scott MacFarlane is anchor of Scott MacFarlane Reports and chief Washington correspondent for MeidasTouch Network. His independent journalism and investigative reporting can be found on YouTube, Substack, Instagram, X, TikTok and other platforms.
Most recently, MacFarlane departed CBS News, where he covered Congress and the Justice Department. He served as the designated House chamber correspondent for presidential State of the Union addresses and as an in-studio correspondent for election night coverage. He also covered Supreme Court confirmation hearings and reported from the courtrooms for the legal cases involving President Donald Trump in New York, Florida and Washington, D.C.
In more than 20 years covering Washington, MacFarlane has earned 20 Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards. His reporting has led directly to the passage of five state laws in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., strengthening protections for children in public schools. That work earned him the Anna Quindlen Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Child Welfare League of America.
